In 2004, U.S. citizens adopted approximately 69 children from Thailand. Younger children available for adoption are ages 10 months to 5 years, however most are aged 3 and older; there are also older children, sibling groups, and children with special needs; more boys than girls. The children reside in orphanages and foster care.

Travel required: Yes for first adoptions; if married, both parents must travel; in-country stay approximately one week; for subsequent adoptions from the country, escorting is permitted.

Singles accepted: No

Other: Post-placement reports are required for six months; adoptions are finalized following this probationary period. The Thai government requires that adopting parents have a spiritual belief, not a particular religious affiliation, but belief in something.
